What is the Science behind this technology?

Sound, Light, and Vibration:

Brainwave entrainment and Audio-visual entrainment both use an external stimulus which could be for example light, color, and/or sound to cause the frequency of the brainwaves to change to a particular frequency in order to achieve a particular result such as relaxation, enhanced learning, etc.. This is beneficial beyond the relaxed state it can create; it has been shown to be helpful in treating not only physical ailments, but also psychological and neurological issues. Studies have also shown that memory, physical coordination, behavior, and learning problems can be improved.

The use of rhythm to attain altered states of mind has been used for centuries; drumming, flickering sunlight seen through a spinning wheel, masks used with specific movements to direct light, etc.. Audio-visual entrainment uses music or tones synchronized with flashing lights to guide the brain to the desired brainwave state.

By using the technology that allows the brain to be observed, specific behaviors can be matched to the frequency used by the brain during those behaviors; for example, 10.2 Hz, in the alpha range, is connected to memory. Study participants were better able to recall random groups of letters when exposed to lights flashing at that frequency. The Bulgarian Psychiatrist, Gorgi Lazanoff played baroque music and had his students breathe in rhythm to the music to increase their ability to learn.

Everything vibrates: the universe we live in is made up of patterns of frequency. Science is now showing what mystics of many traditions have been teaching for centuries – that everything in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual realms is made of energy and its vibration. Everything currently used in healing, physical therapy, drugs, herbs, etc, all have energy and frequency and affect us on that level.

The voice is also vibration, and, in studies analyzing voice, is a reliable indicator of the body systems. It can be used to diagnose illness, detect lies, and indicate the functioning of the body. According to Dr. Alfred Tomatis, the voice is not able to reproduce what the ear can’t hear, and the ear can’t hear what the brain can’t generate. There is growing evidence that the brain is a complex tone generator and commands the body systems through frequency.

Brainwaves can be measured; the voice frequency, which seems to match that of the brain, can also be measured. Each person’s voice is unique, similar to a fingerprint, and the specific frequencies can be mapped to give indications of physical as well as mental and emotional issues. Research has shown that, like our body’s ability to take Vitamin D from the sun, and the corresponding maladies when it isn’t available, we are also able to take nutrients from sound, and suffer when we are missing certain ones. These deficiencies are able to be seen in voice analysis. We all need a balance of frequencies, unique to ourselves and our circumstances, to be healthy.

We tend to think of sound as affecting only the ears, and light as affecting only the eyes; this is a mistake. Sound and light are both part of the electromagnetic spectrum – they are both energy. There are levels of both that we don’t see or hear but still affect us. Low sound frequencies have been used in military experiments to kill animals; mothers have been able to hear their children cry from miles away. Ultra violet light touches our skin and triggers the formation of pigmentation and vitamin D, and it works even if we have our eyes shut. Both sound and light have been shown to affect the electromagnetic energy present in our body in many ways.

Magnetic fields:

The world generates magnetic fields, from the earth’s magnetism, solar storms, and weather changes. Our bodies also have a magnetic field. Scientists have discovered that those magnetic fields have a necessary effect on the body’s functioning; they can stimulate the metabolism, increase the amount of oxygen available to the cells, stimulates the production of melatonin, helps keep the cells in an alkaline state which protects the cell from disease causing microorganisms, and increases enzyme action in the cells. Magnetic field deficiency syndrome, caused by the combination of time spent in buildings, the decline in the strength of the earth’s magnetic field, and the pollution caused by power lines, microwaves, cell phones computers, etc, can cause headaches, dizziness, muscle stiffness, chest pain, insomnia, etc. Astronauts also experience loss of bone calcium, and muscle cramps when they are out of the earth’s magnetic field for an extended period of time.

Magnetic therapy was used by the ancient Egyptians for pain; Chinese healers as early as 200 BC used magnetic lodestones to correct unhealthy imbalances, and the Vedas – ancient Hindu scripture – mention the treatment of disease with lodestones. It has been a continuing therapy ever since, for various diseases and disorders, as well as health promoting programs.

Epigenetics:

The field of Epigenetics refers to the science that shows how the development, functioning and evolution of biological systems are influenced by forces outside of the DNA sequence. Research shows that parents’ experiences early in their lives change the traits they pass on to their children. Recent studies by the Institute of HeartMath and others show that even the thoughts, emotions, and intentions we have every day affect not only who we are but who our children become. The DNA blueprint is altered and influenced by those feelings whether positive or negative.

Spinning:

Research through NASA, UCLA, Harvard University Medical School, and others indicate substantial benefits to horizontal spinning. Monks, Sufi and Hindu mystics, and Shamans have always used vertical spinning to achieve health and greater spiritual awareness. Spinning of any sort activates critical, rarely used areas of the brain, but the benefits of horizontal spinning, as opposed to vertical, have demonstrated the potential for much more in the areas of IQ, healing medical conditions such as arteriosclerosis and brain injuries, disorders involving visual and auditory special awareness, and development of greater physical and mental well-being.

This research has highlighted the need for movement in our lives; movement is an essential nutrient which, in our sedentary culture, we are seriously deficient in. Movement stimulates the body and nervous system, activates the centers of the brain involved in learning, discernment and pleasure. Motion deprivation leads to chronic health problems, depression, lowered immune capabilities and weakness in general.

Spinning specifically has benefits beyond other forms of movement such as exercise, walking, dance etc. It affects the fluids in the body: when inner ear fluids are moved by spinning, electrical impulses are sent out that impact and stimulate different areas of the brain; the body’s many fluid systems, cerebro-spinal, lymph and blood, are all beneficially impacted by spinning, creating an environment conducive to growth, disease resistance and healing, as well as mental clarity and emotional calm and strength.

When a person spins clockwise, the opposite electromagnetic charges are organized in the body. This removes excess charges causing over stimulation in parts of the brain, and transferring those charges, which activates under stimulated regions in the other hemisphere. That balances the brain, synchronizes the right and left hemispheres, enhances the integration and ability of both hemispheres to work together, and improves functioning in all of the mental and emotional processes.

Spinning counterclockwise creates a balance in the frontal lobe of the brain, as well as in the pineal gland, causing relaxation and easier access to the alpha, theta and delta brain states. One benefit of this is the ability to consciously direct the brain in creating desired behaviors and results, and eliminate unwanted behaviors, habits and thoughts. It also gives some conscious control over previously unconscious brain functioning, which can lead to intentional self healing, directed growth and enhanced physical and mental abilities.

EEG and other evidence show that spinning also optimizes the Neuro-Efficiency Quotient – the speed at which electrical signals are transmitted in the brain and body. This is directly related to IQ and other learning abilities. Studies at UCLA have indicated the potential for jumps in IQ of 30 points and more. In addition, spatial awareness is enhanced, imagination and creativity are stimulated, and general feelings of peace and calm are the usual state of being.
